Last updated: 27 October 2026
This policy explains how Import My Car Spain ("we", "us") handles the personal information you give us when you use this website.
Who is responsible for your data
Import My Car Spain
La Cala de Mijas, Málaga, Spain
Email: hola@importmycarspain.com
If you have any question about this policy or your data, email us at the address above.
What we collect
We only collect what you choose to send us through the contact form:
- your name
- your email address
- your phone number (optional)
- your message and anything you include in it, such as details about your car
We do not use the website to collect payment details, and we do not ask for sensitive information. Please don't include sensitive information in your message.
Why we use it, and on what legal basis
We use your details only to reply to your enquiry and, if you go ahead, to provide our services. This includes calling you back if you leave a phone number and ask us to.
- Answering your enquiry and taking steps before a possible agreement: this is necessary to respond to your request (Article 6(1)(b) of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)).
- Your consent: you tick the box on the form when you send it (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR). You can withdraw your consent at any time by emailing us.
We do not use your details for marketing, and we do not sell or rent them to anyone.
Who can see it
Your message is kept in the private admin area of our website and a copy is sent to our email inbox. The only other parties that process it do so on our behalf, to make this happen:
- Our website hosting provider (Hostinger), which runs the website and stores the messages sent through the form. Its server for our website is currently in the United States. Transfers of personal data outside the European Union are protected by the safeguards the GDPR requires, such as the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.
- Our email provider, which delivers and stores the copy sent to our inbox.
We may share information with public authorities, such as the DGT, Hacienda or customs, only when you ask us to handle a car import or registration for you and it is needed for that work. We may also share it when the law requires us to.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiries for as long as needed to deal with them. Messages sent through the website form are deleted automatically after 12 months, and if no work follows we delete the email copies within 12 months too. If we work together, we keep the records we are legally required to keep for as long as the law requires.
Protecting the form from spam
To stop automated spam, the website checks how quickly the form was filled in and how many messages come from the same internet connection. For this it keeps a coded (hashed) version of your internet address for two days, and then deletes it. It is not linked to your message and is not used for anything else. We do not use any outside spam-check service.
Cookies
This website does not set any cookies on your device, does not use analytics, and does not use advertising or tracking of any kind. See our Cookie Policy.
The home page may show our latest Instagram post. We keep a copy of that post on our own server, so your browser does not connect to Instagram when you visit our website. Instagram only receives information about you if you click the post to open it on Instagram, and then Instagram's own privacy policy applies.
Your rights
You can ask us at any time to:
- see the personal data we hold about you
- correct it
- delete it
- restrict or object to how we use it
- give you a copy of it in a portable format
- withdraw your consent
To do this, email hola@importmycarspain.com. We will reply within one month.
If you are not happy with how we have handled your data, you can complain to the Spanish Data Protection Agency (Agencia Española de Protección de Datos, www.aepd.es).
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
